We hiked with wonderful weather today for 18.5 miles. Luckily we found a pub about 10 miles into the hike and got food. It was a place called the Hot Air Balloon just beyond a crazy highway crossing next to a round about.
Now we know why there are exclamation points next to the highway crossings on our map! We don't think there there is a pedestrian right of way law here, because no driver we have seen even looks at us. Couple this with the fact that they drive on the wrong side of the road makes crossing the street scary.
This town is full of hikers. And the only place in town open for dinner tonight was jumping. We sat next to three couple doing the trail from south to north (opposite of us). And we ran into the couple from our hotel last night (which was very nice: good food, lots of art and books, and a bright room with great windows -- and head room) again and have arranged to hike to the next town with them tomorrow. This should serve to keep us from wimping out as "light rain" is forecast for tomorrow.
Today was mother's day and Rhonda got email from both sons. So even dead tired and with a sore toe she is happy.
More tomorrow with phtos. Tonight the local Tibbeewell Lodge Wi Fy is not cooperating.
