Yesterday We took the train to SF after Jim Lynch drove us to the station in Sacramento, like he did when we left on our last walk in Europe almost exactly two years ago. The train is so easy and cheap after considering that our hotel on Market Street charges $35 to park each night. It was nice to see that the train was about half full and the station in Richmond where we switched to BART was bustling. We emerged from the underground at the hotel in perfect spring weather.
After dropping our bags we walked up to Pacific Heights to shop and lollygag along Fillmore Street, discovering an interesting passage off Sutter Street between Webster and Fillmore. This is a wonderful walking city and the weather was so good it makes us wonder why we travel so far to walk. I guess the thing we are looking forward to most in England will be emersion in a rural culture different from our own.
We met Blair and Mike for pizza at Delfina in Pacific Heights. The next time we will see them will be in Brighton in about ten days.
No photos today as I left the camera in the hotel room. Rhonda did take a picture of me with her Droid at a sidewalk cafe and sent it along attached to email. But the ipad refused to open it. So it goes.
